Housing pregnant mice together?

What is your opinion on housing female mice that are about to give birth (and after the birth) together? Are there any benefits or downfalls?

Please, serious answers only, from people who know what they're talking about. You're only wasting your time posting nonsense.Housing pregnant mice together?
I se you have two different answers here. I will help you sort it out: Your mice will be fine being housed together IF their home is big enough. If the cage is smallish (or just smaller then THEY want it to be) they will fight, or cannibalize the babies, because they wont think they can survive in a small space.

Basically, it depends on the mouses preference. You can try it, but have another enclosure available, just in case you need to move someone at the last minute.Housing pregnant mice together?
no downfalls.

my two pregnant females lived together.

its actually really good because they build their nests together.

they don't go aggressive towards each other or anything.

and when the babies are born, they help each other out and treat all the babies like their own.

all female mice have like, a motherly streak in them. they just love looking after babies lolz.

it will be fine if you house them together. my females both ended up giving birth the healthy, gorgeous babies!
I agree with the commenter who said it all depends on the size of the cage. If the mother mice feel that there is a enough resources to go around they will live peacefully together. If they feel there babies will be shortchanged they will attack each other. Keep them in a decent size enclosure with enough good food, clean water and soft bedding. If you do this you'll be fine.
Well, my sisters mice faught each other whice pg. Then a few days after the babies were born the mom mouse ate the babies. I would call a vet first thing Monday and ask them. One vet told my sister if she would have had a salt lick in with them, that may have prevented the attack. So, like I said, please call a vet asap and ask them. Good luck.
if they are getting along now its all good. they will share the parental responsibilities and nurse each others babies.

Why is the Book ';Of Men and Mice'; by John Steinbeck banned from some libraries?

Of Mice and Men has been banned from various American public and school libraries or curricula for allegedly ';promoting euthanasia';, being ';anti-business';, containing profanity, racial slurs, and generally containing ';vulgar'; and ';offensive language';. Many of the bans and restrictions have been lifted and it remains required reading in many other American, Australian, British, New Zealand and Canadian high schools, perhaps in part to bring awareness to these societal errors in which Steinbeck aims to bring into light. As a result of being a frequent target of censors, Of Mice and Men appears on the American Library Association's list of the Most Challenged Books of 21st Century (number 4).

Why is the Book ';Of Men and Mice'; by John Steinbeck banned from some libraries?
It portrays Women, the Handicapped, African Americans, the church in less than favorable lights, however it captures Steinbeck's Depression era mentality to a tee. We can't whitewash the past, or we are doomed to repeat it. We need to discuss what is wrong about the stereotypes in the book in open forum, so it is understood this is not feasible in this day and age to portray these characters in current situations, but are locked into this less than favorable era. Steinbeck did not pull any punches in this book, he laid it out as it actually was, take it or leave it, accurate for details of the day. Profanity is also used quite a bit, but it is a great piece of literature for the era, in fact it would be hard to find better, even with the ';Grapes of Wrath'; included. Why is the Book ';Of Men and Mice'; by John Steinbeck banned from some libraries?
No library I know bans any books. (Isn't it Of Mice and Men?)

If you know one that does, ask them why.

If this is hypothetical: maybe because there is some mayhem and murder in the book? because some people don't like to be reminded that folks are individuals, no matter what? because some don't like a man being compared to a mouse? because some don't like the style?

ADD: It may be out of the 'youth' section, but it should be at a library, no matter what the content sparking controversy may be.

It's a good book and one often found on high school required-reading lists.
Possibly because *SPOILER* at the end George shoots Lennie because Lennie accidentally (he is retarded and doesn't understand ettiquette and social customs) breaks a character's wife's neck. The husband, who has hated Lennie from day one, uses this as an excuse to get his gun. So George shoots Lennie so he doesn't have to suffer.
';Of Mice and Men'; was banned from some libraries because it deals with issues such as retardation and sexual assault that some people believe kids should not be allowed to read about.
It was banned because it deals with sexual assault on a minor.
I hate giving links as answers, but it'll give you a better idea than a quick sum up I would type:
it is on the ala most challenged books list

curse words and not a good influence on kids
Has curse words.

What to look for when buying pet mice?

It's best to adopt from a good breeder or small animal rescue, if possible. If there aren't any near you, a pet store that doesn't house a large number of mice together could be good place to find healthy pets.

Ask to handle the mice before making your decision, if possible. Definately look for bright, clear eyes, an alert, curious disposition %26amp; a healthy-looking coat. A thin mouse is likely to be ill or weak. Make sure there is no evidence of loose droppings in their environment %26amp; that it seems well-maintained.

Ask questions, including the approximate ages of the mice. If they're not already socialized, the best age to adopt is between 6-10 weeks which is a pretty short window. If they're used to being handled their age is less important. You can also adopt older mice if you don't mind the possibility that they might never become calm enough to hold.

We've had the best experiences with mice who had been kept in small groups. While we've adopted some sweet, healthy mice from feeder bins we've also had some heartbreaking experiences.

When we're looking to adopt mice, we're especially impressed by the ones who show interest in us %26amp; come to the front of their enclosure to say Hi. We're also drawn to active individuals, so anyone in the wheel or climbing up the water bottle is considered for adoption.

As you may know, girl mice usually get along great in pairs or small groups (we usually adopt trios), but boys must be raised together or they'll fight. What to look for when buying pet mice?
Try this website: petfinder.com, they will give you a list of animals at local shelter if you put in your area. You should think about adoption first and then a breeder. Although there can be problems with buying from pet stores, you can also get a healthy animal. Here's what you should look for while getting a mouse anywhere:

-clear bright eyes

-playful and curious

-shiny short healthy looking coat

-no bumps, cuts,or bruises

-it is walking around easily and freely without limping

also, make sure the enviorment is clean ( bedding is not soiled, food is in clean bowl, plenty of water in clean feeder) Ask someone ( shelter volunteer/ pet store employee/ or your breeder) if you can hold a few of the mice. Look for one that is comfortable in your hand, they will be scared, because your a new person and they won't be used to you. good luck!!What to look for when buying pet mice?
Well, when I am looking for mice I like to look for small white ones with red eyes. They are so cute and I have such a soft spot in my heart for them!!! I really like it when I bring them home and then I reenact the battle from Lord of the Rings, with my snake being Legolas and the pack of rats being the evil orcs.

Legolas for life!!
just ask the pet person for help they have more experience.

Does mice affect people with asthma?

I found 2 mouses at my house. I have 3 small children with asthma, I dont want to use poison. What can I do to get rid of the problem?Does mice affect people with asthma?
You can get a live trap at the hardware store. Then take the little guys for a ride in the country. Explain to the kids, that your just taking the mice home. Pack a lunch and make a day of it. Some

times we adults do things that are necessary, and the kids get

very upset. We don't even know about it until they are 20, and they are telling the mouse story over Thanksgiving dinner.Does mice affect people with asthma?
Mouse-trap, as for the asthma, do not smoke in the house (that's if you are a smoker) if the children's bedroom has a carpet then vacuum every day, or better still change to a wood or laminate floor. Fresh air and ventilation in the house but try not to create a draught as this will give them a cold.
Mice carry HANTA VIRUS. It is an airborn (usually fatal) virus that you get from their droppings. If you have mice, you have droppings, too. Use sticky-traps. I know....it's gross, but no poison and the kids can't get their fingers hurt, either.
Only if you eat them with the skins still on.

  • Can you tell my some breeds of mice?

like i need 2 find pics of all different mice so HURRy please and please helpCan you tell my some breeds of mice?
All varieties of pet mouse are the same species and not seperated into different breeds, just varieties. You can find species pictures of different kinds of mouse at centralpets.com under mammals and rodents.

You can find variety pictures under the roman numeral here http://hiiret.fi/eng/breeding/varieties/鈥?/a>Can you tell my some breeds of mice?
If you are looking for personal experiences with different breeds I guess I have. Where I bu=ought my mice they had all different ';breeds'; there, but they did not even seperate them. I had a short straight haired, a silky satin like haired and a wavy haired. They all act the same and I prefer the wavy haired because they looked teddy bear like. The satin haird was the prettiest though.
Just Google ';mice breeds';. I just did and it gives you a bunch of information.
