I once read a book about a pair of mice who were the only survivors after all other life on earth was destroye

The mice began to breed and wanted to model their society on the way humans had lived their lives. All they had to guide them were copies of the New York Times. Soon they began to experience the same social problems that we as humans experience. The rest of the book is a hilarious account of how they try to deal with these problems. The book is in essence a satire on human society.
