Their urine smells very strong, so more than that and you'd be cleaning the tank every day. Even so, I'd say twice a week you should clean it out to keep things smelling clean. Make sure to have good ventilation and keep it out of the sun. No, just playing. Get a real cage like the poster above. They are just as cheap as the 10g and it will work a lot better. Also, post in the right area and you will get more help.
2 females. Or one male. I wouldn't suggest a male/female pair unless you want to be buying 2-4 more 10 gallon tanks every few months as they reproduce. Two males will probably fight, and they smell worse to start with.
