feeding Corn snakesWhat other type of food can I feed my corn snake instead of mice?
chocolate souffl茅 with ice cream, that would be awesome for any animal. What other type of food can I feed my corn snake instead of mice?
Mice are all most captive cornsnakes ever get. They do quite well on that diet and don't seem to crave variety like we humans do.
If mice or appropriately sized rats are hard to come by, I've met breeders who have fed chicks or other rodent species (like hamsters, gerbils, etc.). Although, they only did so occasionally and the bulk of their snakes' diets are mice.
No insects, though. Corns are not insect eaters and the hard exoskeletons of crickets can actually perforate the gut.
theres nothing really it will just eat pinkies and mice
someone else had asked this before b/c they thought their snake was getting sick of eating mice. snakes do not mind eating the same thing. Now there is no reason to feed it anything else but if you really want to, it's going to cost more, possibly several times more than a mouse. you need to do research on what corn snakes eat in the wild and go from there.

In the wild
Young hatchlings tend to feed on lizards and tree frogs, while adults feed on larger prey, such as mice, rats, birds, and bats
Zoo Diet
They are fed mice, rats, and chicks.
rats, small birds, lizards
wow give this person a simple answer people! Depending on the corn snake itself may vary, Most Will Eat mice, its a corn (rat) snakes main diet. BUT. some will eat crickets, but i highy recommend mice, if u dont like seeing them suffer, buy em frozen, and then defrost them and dangle it in front of it till it bites! some will eat it when u just drop it in!

Mice and other small mammals are your only option. They don't have to be live however. You can purchase frozen mice off the Internet or at most pet stores.
nuthing...i have 2.
Also, if it's the feeding of another animal that bothers you, try snake sausages. Search for them on the net. They are basically sausages with all the nutrients snakes need in a little package. Do not feed insects. Yes they can eat crickets. Yes uninformed pet store employees do recommend it. Please do not feed crickets!

most types of small mammals, thats what they eat in the wild.dont feed any type of insect.and definetly not crickets because the hard exosceliton on the cricket will kill your snake.hope i helped.
ummm i can't think of anything. i feed mine mice and have been for a while now. i can't think of anything better than mice. why won't you feed yours mice. if you think about the poor dead mice then just think, if you didn't feed the corn snake mice then it would die what would rather have bunches of mice or your sweet corn snake. you can feed it rats, but corn snakes only get about 3-4 feet on average, but some can get bigger and some stay smaller. so rats are bigger than mice, but that is about the only difference, the size between rats and mice. if you have a larger corn then rats are fine, but a smaller one should stick with mice. fish also, minnows, and stuff. that is what my friend feeds her's , because she feels bad for the mice and rats that get eating. you just put the minnows in the water bowl and the snake eats them, that works, but you would have to buy several. but that is the other option besides mice.
no crickets, they have exoskeletons and those are very hard for snakes to swallow and digest because of their body shape.
