Symbolism in the barn in Of Mice and Men?

what symbolism is there in the barn in chapter 5?

i know the pitchfork can be the devil

the box is like a coffin

the puppies--innocence? and the dead puppy foreshadowed death

curlys wife can be a lot probably, like the other girl in the red dress, temptation

but what about the flies and the chains on the horses? i know they meant something....and the streams of light?

so thanks!!Symbolism in the barn in Of Mice and Men?
well, I read this book about a year ago so I don't remember every detail but you could symbolize the flies with death also, since flies are mostly around dead and decaying things. The beam of light could symbolize a route to heaven? just suggestions?Symbolism in the barn in Of Mice and Men?
this is cool because we just went over this today!

the flies represent being trapped because when a fly goes into your house, it dies trying to escape by repeatedly hitting the window...it symbolizes how Lennie and George, and the others are trapped in the migrant worker lifestyle

i guess, the horses are included in the trapped thing as well.

the beam of light represents an escape to the fly, so maybe about the dream of owning the rabbit farm and not working in winter.

hope i've helped ^_^
