What Things Attract Mice?

What would attract a mouse to come into your house? I live in an upstairs apartment, and all the people I asked said that mice can't get to an upstairs apartment, but what attracts mice? I'll appreciate any feedback. What Things Attract Mice?
No cheese, mice aren't naturally attracted to cheese. They prefer, by far, cereals. Cheese is just a cliché.

Don't be obsessed with a mouse that might or might not be coming into your place. You're very likely not to see a single mouse at your place in your whole life.

The only thing that does attract them is food.

As for going upstairs, I don't see why it would be a problem for them, they can do it, they just don't need to.

The thing is, they will find food in all the levels before yours so there really is no point going through the trouble. That's why you shouldn't meet a mouse unless you adopt one ;)

And don't be scared, they can't do anything to you. If you ever do meet a mouse, it will be so scared that it will run away as fast as possible. It won't bite you, attack you, or do whatever scares you. It will just run away. What Things Attract Mice?
