she has done since my bf taught her it was ok when really little kitten, now its summer there is a constant flurry of presents coming thru the catflap in her little mouth. Any suggestions???? i cant lock her out as i am frightened she will get scared and cant lock her in as she doesnt use litter trays anymore. i seem to be always chasing mice around the house! My cat keeps bringing in Mice %26amp; Birds! help, is there anything i can do to stop her?
My cat hardly uses her litter tray either, she much prefers to go outside, but I always have one clean and ready to use just in case. I am lucky in that I seem to only get mice during the spring and autumn. (My rescue count is higher than her kill count!) As for the birds, do you have bird feeders? I have some strung up high on a washing line so my cat can't get at them. As far as I am aware, she has only caught two birds - one she brought in still alive and I made her go outside with it and it managed to escape, the other I presume got eaten as I only found a few feathers in the hallway. If you put bird feeders out of the way, hopefully it will encourage them not to fly down to the ground and therefore keep out of reach of the cat. Reflective collars and bells do nothing - mine wears one. There is a thing called the Liberator cat collar which has a device to scare the birds, but I don't know how effective it is.My cat keeps bringing in Mice %26amp; Birds! help, is there anything i can do to stop her?
Its strange that she suddenly doesnt use litter trays- this could be symbloic of a medical or behavioural issue which you might need to check out.
I heard about a great anti-eating device for cats- a cat bib- apparently it does wonders for preventing cats from catching animals and birds- it messes with their paw-eye coordination because they cant see their paws when they go to pounce.

Many people will also use collars with reflective strips and bells to help animals escape from the cats.
We have this problem with my husbands parents cat. The reason that they do it is because they want to take care of you as you have taken care of them. Unfortunately cats show their love by bringing birds mice and in our case snakes to. The only thing I can think of is disciplining her in some way when she does it! Good luck let me know how it turns out
my female cat did this ALOT and everytime she did it i would yell at her and she bought me many diffrent things like birds, mice, rats, chipmunks then she bought me in a baby rabbit i came on answers and someone said to PRAISE her. so when she bought me a live rat and set it free in my home i praised her told her what a good girl she was and hugged pet and kissed her it stopped i havent had anthoer 1 yet (knock on wood) i really hope it worked try it
I'm not 100% sure if it would work but cats bring mice and birds in as gifts for their owners. I'd suggest when they bring them in spraying your cat with water. It probably wont work straight away but after a while it will start ot associate this with the water and not do it.
Otherwise i can't think of any instant solution. hope this helps in some way.
Tape the cat flap shut or use one of those adjustable flaps so you can lock her in/out whenever you feel like it.
Cats catch mice and birds, it's what they do. You should have really researched your pet a bit more thoroughly before buying it.
no- b/c they are a predator animal.. only keep inside will stop this.
maybe the cat is lonely and need some tlc
