The Landlord could kill every mouse in your whole apartment. But that doesn't mean new ones can't sneak in the next day. They can fit through a hole the size of a dime. Your landlord has no way of knowing that you have mice. You live there your landlord doesn't. You need to tell your landlord that you hear mice in your ceiling.
I would buy a box of poison or two because I am not a freaking cheapskate. Is it down to me or landlord to sort out mice problem in loft?
The landlord. If you don't get a satisfactory reply contact him again and say you think they are chewing at electrical cables and you will have to speak to the fire and safety people. good luck.Is it down to me or landlord to sort out mice problem in loft?
Maybe the council will deal with them for free.
the landlords. idotn knwo what state you live in but the California dept. of consumer affairs tenant/landlord handbook states (pg 36) -conditions that make a rental unit legally uninhabitable among the long list there is the section that states
Clean and sanitary buildings, grounds, and appurtenances(for example a garden or a detached garage), free from debris, filth, rubbish, garbage, RODENTS AND VERMIN.
you also have your responsibilities to keep the premises as clean and sanitary as the condition of the premises permits and dispose of trasha nd garbage in a clean safe manner
not saying you dont but that will be their excuse... so be prepaired. My lanlord is trying to evict me for exercising my legal rights and she cant its a retaliatory action.....you can check out the book at ..
www.dca.ca.gov there is a tenant and landlord section you view facts and a pdf file which you can read the book yourself or request a free copy..
Depends on the problem if the mice are eating you out of food call the landlord. If they are sleeping in the loft get the landlord to call the police as they are squating. If all fails phone the council as the little gits won't be paying council tax and I'll have to pay on behalf of them.
It is up to your landlord to deal with any vermin on the property.
Landlord. Give him a ring and explain. If he's having none of it then report him to your local environmentl health.... Good luck
It depends on your landloard and your contract! I am having a mice problem..(since the neighbor owns 24 cats and the mice come here to hide)...and it's MY problem! Cheese and traps Baby! Over and Over AGAIN.
If you pay rent private or council it is the Landlords responsibility by law.
It depends,
If they are there because of a fault with the building, say a hole in the wall, if you reported it to your landlord and he did nothing to repair it it could be his problem, if on the other hand it is because of a hole in the wall you didn't inform your landlord of, it could be down to you, likewise if the mice are there because you have been leaving food about and encouraging them.
There is no black and white answer to this as each of you has various responsibilities, and depending on who has failed to be responsible the fault may be with them.
Check your lease terms, and or speak to Environmental Health, and are you sure its mice, have you just heard them or seen them it could be Rats or Squirrels.
most likely your landlord. you need to check the terms of your lease. The responsibilities of your landlord are usually stated in there. Either way i would go talk to them. Most likely they wouldn't want the word to get out that their complex has mice... unless mice and such are a common occurrence in your building.
well im not sure but my landlord say i have to call the pest control and deal with it myself so good luck .
Actually it is the landlords problem. It is his responsibility to keep a dwelling habitable. If you are keeping a clean house, it shouldn't be your fault. You can threaten to report him to the health department or housing authorities. But if he can prove you keep a filthy or unsanitary house, it may come back to you.
But to save argument, get those packets of mouse poison and scatter them in the loft. Just keep your pets and kids out of there. Check up there every few days and get rid of the dead bodies.
It is your problem. sorry!
For goodness sakes, take $8 and go purchase mouse poison. This is the stuff I use. It kills them dead.
